Phil Hellmuth vs. Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker
![]()
World Series of Poker record bracelet holder Phil Hellmuth is not exactly happy with the tournament these days or the folks who run it, Harrah’s. Hellmuth spoke to French media about how Harrah’s new online poker website could damage the WSOP. The site will not be available to US customers at the onset. Harrah’s announced a partnership agreement with the strong European brand, 888.com earlier last month. Pokerati had this to say about the concerns raised by Hellmuth. "Beyond his repeated request for more food and cheaper rooms (previously Hellmuth was seeking "free"), he actually raises some good points, which seem to tie in with his November Nine coaching client’s WSOP beefs. &qu (Read the full post about ‘Phil Hellmuth vs. Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker’…)
Pitbull Poker Owners Arrested
![]()
If you have been following Gambling911.com over the last 24 hours, you would know that the online poker room Pitbull Poker had shut its doors with what appears to be zero intention of paying either customers or players. Over the summer, many in the online poker community suspected Pitbull of engaging in "cheating" schemes, accusations the ownership flatly denied. But a review of who was behind Pitbull seemed to suggest something wasn’t quite right with the organization. In 2000, Federico Schiavio, a high level IT employee of Binions, registered the domain wsop.com and began developing custom poker software to launch a poker site on this domain

Lucky Dog: Doyle Brunson Down But Not Out

Poker icon and, more importantly, friend of Gambling911.com, Doyle Brunson had dropped out of the top 10 at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe by late afternoon, though he was far from out. Brunson was still among the top 30 chip leaders. He had lost a good 3700 at the time this article was going to press. We’ve pulled out all the stops to bestow good luck upon Doyle, including Fido the Cheerleading pooch. If he doesn’t get back into the thick of things, we may have to resort to bringing out Cake Girl. Regular readers of Gambling911.com know who we’re referring to. Daniel Negreanu, who performed well at last year’s WSOPE event, had climbed the chip leader chart to the 19th position. Tournament: WCOOP 2009 wrap-up
There wasn’t a single TV camera at one of the world’s largest poker tournaments this year. Though you could still watch live coverage with commentary, you’d be hard-pressed to point out any familiar faces. That’s because the action took place entirely online. For the last two weeks, things have been hectic over at PokerStars‘ virtual lobby with 43,973 players logging on to compete in the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker.
The tournament ran from September 3 through September 21 and featured 45 events with guarantees ranging from $100,000 up to $10,000,000 for the Main Event. Living up to its “world” designation, 140 countries were represented with champions hailing from at least 12. The

Gambling911.com reported on the newly proposed bill that morning after it was quietly introduced during the weekend. Now it’s been withdrawn. In a statement to The Hill, Wyden’s communications director said Wyden did not want to introduce another controversial issue into the healthcare debate, and would pull his amendment from consideration.
