After clashing with LA Galaxy fans at the weekend the American Dream could be over for David Beckham – prompting bookie Paddy Power to bet on which European team the midfield maestro will play for next.
Beckham is 4/7 to return again to AC Milan, with new manager Leonardo reportedly open to the idea. He is 10/3 to follow his former manager Carlos Ancelotti from the San Siro to Chelsea with Spurs possibly the only other likely contender at 9/1.
Beckham’s former teams Real Madrid and Manchester United then come next in the betting at 12/1 and 16/1, respectively.
Darren Haines, spokesman for the bookmaker, said: “Fergie could be crying out for a decent wideman come January after his failure to replace Ronaldo – but surely he wouldn’t swallow his pride and take Beckham back even on a short term deal?”
“It’s almost certain Beckham will return for a European stint to secure his World Cup place in South Africa and the early betting suggests a fight between Milan and Chelsea for his signature.”
