Leading online poker site PokerStars has added another international star to their “Team PokerStars” by announcing the signing of popular British pro Victoria Coren. Coren, often dubbed the “Princess of Poker,” has been a prominent light on the UK tournament scene, with a career-defining win in the European Poker Tour’s Season 3 headlining a career with well over $1 million in tournament earnings, at present tenth all-time among women. Coren’s 2006 win at PokerStars EPT London, at that city’s Grosvenor Victoria Casino, was worth 500,000.
Coren is also widely regarded in the UK as a journalist and broadcaster, writing weekly columns for The Observer and
The Guardian and serving as commentator on shows such as “Celebrity Poker Club”. The daughter of the late humourist and journalist Alan Coren, she’s played poker for more than two decades and has long been regarded as a formidable player in cash games at the “Vic”.
Said Coren, on being named as the latest member of Team PokerStars: “I’m genuinely proud and happy to be an ambassador for PokerStars, I have played on the site for years. And I’m especially delighted to help promote the EPT, which was already my favourite tournament series even before I won in London. The only difference is that I used to play it in cheaper shoes. Team PokerStars Pro is a lineup of some of the most exciting and memorable characters in modern poker, I’m really chuffed to be joining them.”
Initial appearances for Coren as a member of Team PokerStars include the upcoming season of European Poker Tour events, plus other tournaments.
